Land Rover Defender - Bonnet Conversion Skin (Puma with Chequer Plate)

This is a GRP (fiberglass) bonnet skin that fits onto a standard pre-2007 Land Rover Defender bonnet and changes it from standard appearance to looking like a Puma bonnet with chequer plate.

The clever thing about this design is that it uses the chequer plate to hide the fact that you have added a bulge to the bonnet of your Defender (it looks like you have added just chequer plate but you have added chequer plate and a bulge).

To achieve the same appearance you would need to buy a full Defender Puma Bonnet (at least £250 in fiberglass) and then swap all your fittings over and then buy a chequer plate kit (around £150).

To fit this kit all you need to do is get the panel sprayed to match your vehicle and then fit 10 countersunk bolts (supplied in the kit) to attach the "skin" to your original bonnet. The "skin" has been made to extend all the way to the front edge so that it will take the new style "DEFENDER" bonnet lettering - see our avaialble lettering.

You could choose to do the chequer plate area a different colour to the flat areas to highlight the chequer plate. The chequer plate is strong enough to stand on when fitted on the bonnet, also aids access to the roof etc.

This could be used to cover over a damaged bonnet - not that although it covers most of the original bonnet it does not cover it all.

In addition to making the vehicle look more up to date this panel will also improve engine sound absorption making the vehicle slightly quieter.

This "skin" is made in the UK from 3mm thick fiberglass and is pre trimmed ready to fit.

This will make the bonnet slightly heavier but as the panel only weighs 5 kg this should not be an issue.
